What is HIFEM?

HIFEM stands for high intensity focused electromagnetic muscle stimulation. Another name for this is magnetic muscle stimulation, a non-invasive body contouring treatment that targets muscle explicitly instead of just fat.
On average, fat makes up 25% of total body weight. However, muscle comprises an even larger portion of the human body (42% in males and 35% in females).

How it Works

UltraTesla utilises High-Intensity Focused Electromagnetic Technology (HIFEM) to induce supramaximal muscle contractions, not achievable through voluntary contractions alone.
When exposed to these contractions, the muscles are forced to adapt and respond with a deep remodelling of the inner tissue structures that results in the muscle building as well as fat burning.
HIFEM works on the principle of external induction of muscle contraction.
HIFEM produces very low-frequency electromagnetic waves.

Am I a good candidate for HIFEM?

Anyone who wants to strengthen and tone their muscles while losing fat can benefit from the procedure. The best candidates, who are most likely to achieve visible and satisfying results, are of normal weight, exercise regularly, and eat a healthy diet.

What does it feel like?

The procedure feels like an intensive work out of the muscles in the target area, as the muscles are undergoing a vigorous series of contractions. There are three phases of contractions during each 30-minute treatment session, and the maximum intensity is adjusted based on the patient’s comfort level. The client may feel a tingling sensation in the area of treatment, and some patients may notice mild and temporary muscle soreness the next day.

What happens during a treatment?

Whilst the client lies back and relaxes, the therapist will place UltraTesla paddles on the target area. The appropriate setting is selected, and the client will experience a sensation of strong muscular contractions. This ‘tensing’ of the muscles can be held for seconds at a time, interspersed with a relaxing tapping sensation.

Do I need to do anything before or after a treatment?

The treatment is non-invasive and requires no recovery time or any pre/post treatment preparation. It is a workout without the sweat.

When will I see results?

Muscles will feel tighter immediately after the first treatment, but visually noticeable results are usually seen two to four weeks after the final session. These results will continue to improve for several weeks afterwards.

How Many Sessions do I need?

We recommend 4-6 sessions for best results, 2-4 days apart.

How long do results last?

As UltraTesla HIFEM treatment builds muscle mass, results are longer-lasting; however, we recommend a good exercise regime to maintain the results. Follow-up or top-up sessions may be scheduled beginning six months to one year after the initial treatment regime, depending on the individual patient’s health and wellness goals.

Does HIFEM hurt?

Treatment can be a little uncomfortable, depending on the individual, but is not a painful treatment

Side Effects

The most common side effect is a feeling of muscle soreness, similar to the sensation one might feel after a vigorous workout. However, the third phase of HI-EMT treatment is designed to mitigate this soreness by helping to flush lactic acid out of the body.

▪ It is recommended that abdominal treatments not be performed during female menstruation as they can increase cramping and bleeding.
